Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Rosary
Built in 1928, the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Manizales (Colombia) is the tallest cathedral in Colombia, rising 115 meters above Bolívar Plaza. Designed in a Neo-Gothic style, it houses more than 140 stained glass windows, intricate wood carvings, and detailed murals that reflect both European influence and local craftsmanship. In front of the cathedral stands El Bolívar Cóndor, a 13.5-meter bronze statue by Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt, depicting Simón Bolívar merging with Colombia’s national bird, the condor—a powerful symbol of freedom and transformation. Together, the cathedral and monument embody the city’s spiritual and cultural identity, drawing both worshippers and visitors into the heart of Manizales.
