Charles Holt, a creative producer, photographer, filmmaker, and visual anthropologist, is passionately dedicated to his craft. With a deep-rooted love for storytelling, he thrives on collaborating with agencies, brands, and individuals to help them express their unique narratives.

Born in Houston, TX, Charles spent most of his formative years in Aracaju, SE Brasil, from the age of 4 to 24, immersing himself in the vibrant culture of his mother's hometown. Growing up in a bustling household with two sisters, his mother's sister, and two of her five brothers, he was fortunate to be surrounded by a diverse and supportive family. Both of his maternal grandparents played an integral role in shaping his upbringing.

While living in New Orleans, LA for some time, Charles experienced a profound revelation that ignited his creative journey. The city's rich heritage, captivating graffiti-covered buildings, and soulful music left an indelible mark on his artistic perspective from an early age.

His first encounter with a camera occurred during a school field trip to Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans when he got his hands on his father's Olympus OM20. He vividly recalls capturing images of William Wetmore Story's statue, The Weeping Angel. This experience imprinted upon him a profound appreciation for capturing emotion and storytelling through photography.

Later on, Charles rediscovered his passion for photography while living in New York City, where he resided for eight years. During that time, he worked at Apple as a sales specialist and had the privilege of meeting fashion photographer Nicolas Padron. Nicolas recognized his potential and hired him as his assistant for two years, marking the beginning of his professional journey in photography. Through careful saving, Charles eventually acquired his first camera, the Nikon D7000, and from that moment forward, his dedication to capturing moments never wavered.

Although he draws inspiration from various sources, Charles finds himself particularly drawn to painters. Their mastery of light, shadow, and composition resonates deeply with him. One artist who profoundly influenced his work is Caravaggio. His painting The Cardsharps continuously inspires him. Depicting three card players, two of whom are cheating, Caravaggio's attention to detail—such as the cut-off fingertips of the glove exposing the cheater's fingers—highlights the subtle nuances that inform the narrative. Caravaggio's work has made Charles acutely self-aware, constantly analyzing every corner of the viewfinder to craft a compelling visual story and capture the moment's essence.

When it comes to his approach to photography and videography, Charles firmly believes that every individual has a unique story to tell. He aims to establish a profound connection with his subjects and immortalize their moments in time, freezing history in its most authentic form. Through photography and art, he pays homage to the spirits encapsulated within those frames. Charles views photographs as intricate labyrinths, reflecting where we come from, where we are going, and the essence of our presence. The truth lies in the details; through them, he strives to reveal the profound stories waiting to be shared.

Now, as a visual anthropologist, Charles combines his artistic sensibilities with a keen cultural awareness, exploring and documenting the intersections of identity, tradition, and storytelling in communities around the world. This role allows him to deepen his understanding of humanity and elevate his craft, ensuring every frame carries the weight of its subject's story.
